Govt’s priority is to save people’s life, industries: PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli says the government has paid its topmost priority to safeguard the lives of the people while drawing attention toward a huge loss due to imbalanced advocacy of freedom.

Prime Minister Oli, who has taken the responsibility of Finance Minister, held discussions with the business leaders on Sunday and urged them not to terrorize the public life by painting a bleak picture through the information dissemination on COVID-19.

Stating that the government was working not to let the citizens hungry, PM Oli urged the needy people to put their real issues to the local administration, police and local levels.

He also Oli clarified that the government was committed not to let the business people indulge in crisis in this critical hour caused by the pandemic coronavirus.

PM Oli said the government was not only working to collect tax as it was creating environment conducive for business and employment generation.

He also appealed to the youth to work inside the country adding that getting job and doing business in the country was not a tough thing.

Stating that Nepal was the sixth remittance sending country to India, he said that “we have no scarcity of employment at home”.

PM Oli further said there was no attraction for youth for foreign job for physical works.

During the meeting, business persons Bhawani Rana, Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, Satish Mor, Haribhakta Sharma and Shekhar Golchha offered suggestions to PM Oli on facilitating business and keeping economy floating during the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

On the occasion, industrialists and business people urged the PM to keep economy floating by relaxing the prohibitory order.

Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Maha Prasad Adhikari and outgoing Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada briefed the business leaders about the steps and measures initiated by the government on concerns and expectations of the private sector.
