“If we stop the movement, there will be a famine here,” he said. “No matter how hard we try, around 2,000 people enter the Valley every day,” he said.

He said that the army should be deployed at the entry points to manage the influx.

“Now that Nepal Police has been deployed, it does not mean that it has failed. But it is the responsibility of the police to look after the law and order situation, robbery, among others,” he said.

He said that even as no decision has been taken for the mobilization of the Nepali Army, the proposal has been sent to the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center.

“Now that it is high time that people learned to live with the coronavirus,” Dahal said, adding that the four-month lockdown and the last three-week of prohibition order have led to complaints of people of not getting food.

“Even now, only a limited number of people follow public health standards,” he said.

He also stressed the need to manage quarantine and isolation centers adding that persons whose swab have been taken for test need to stay at home.

He also said that a place should be identified for the management of dead bodies who die due to COVID-19.
