16 killed in landslides, floods in Province-1

BIRATANAGAR: A total of 16 individuals were killed while 11 others went missing due to floods, landslides and lightning in this rainy season so far.

According to the Internal Affairs Ministry at Province-1, the deceased are Prashanta Rai of Silingchok-1 Sankhuwasabha, Ram Kerung of Chulachuli-5 Ilam, Jita Rai of Arun-2 Bhojpur, Anjana Limbu of Myanglung-6 Thehrathum, Bibek Darnal of Mechinagar-9 Jhapa, Ankus Tamang of Bharapur Jhapa, Karan Thami and Arjun Thami of Bhadrapur Jhapa Nritakala Kewarat and Mahadev Lal Kewarat of Sunabarshi 6 and 5, Nima Sherpa of Makalu-2 Sjankhuwasabha, Kumar Gajmer of Bhadrapur-2 Jhapa, Saugat Rai of Miklakhola-5 Taplejung and Dipesh Limbu and Mandip Limbu of Ramdhuni-7 Sunsari.

According to the Ministry, Dipeshh and Mandip were killed due to hornet bite while others were killed in different natural disasters.

Similarly, missing are Uttar Kumari Rai, Najmaya Rai, Hasta Kumar Rai, Anjila Rai, Namrata Rai, Gori May Rai, Prakriti Rai, Juddha Bahadur Rai, Harka Rai, Aitmaya Rai and Ramman Rai of Silingchok-1 Sankhuwasabha. They went missing in landslides.
