US reports 69,717 deaths, 1,211,838 infection cases

KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,151 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 69,717 as of Tuesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 23,716 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,211,838.

Currently, 955, 093 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,043 are critical.  Meanwhile, 187, 036 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 24, 944 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 7,951 and 4, 135 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 251,947 and infecting 3,641,204 people as of Tuesday morning.
