Food stuff provided to poor families in Gandaki State

POKHARA: The Super Madi Hydropower Company of Madi rural municipality in Kaski provided food stuffs worth Rs 1.2 million as relief materials to the poor households in the community.

The daily wage earners and the poor are undergoing hard times owing to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government to contain the possible outbreak of coronavirus.

Madi rural municipality chief Bed Bahadur Gurung informed that the hydropower company distributed some 700 sacks of rice, 15 sacks of salt, 29 sacks of lentil, and 15 sacks of sugar.

Company chief Pushpa Jyoti Dhungana stated some 700 households were provided the relief materials.

The disaster management committee meeting had on Saturday decided to distribute the relief materials in the rural municipality.

The meeting had also decided to provide the food stuffs of Rs 2,000 to each family for immediate purpose.

Meanwhile, at a time when people in city areas are confined to their homes due to the nationwide lockdown, people of the rural areas in the district are busy planting paddy.

Rajendra Poudel from Polyang from Byas municipality stated that they have been busy planting paddy without worrying about lockdown.
