NSC postpones all sporting events amid coronavirus threat



KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) has postponed all scheduled sports events across the country till the next notice.

A meeting of the national sports governing body on Thursday directed the entire concerned not to hold sporting activities.

The decision to this effect has been made in line with the government directives to refrain from organizing and participating in assemblies, get-togethers, functions, etc.

“It is informed to postpone all sporting activities that will see a huge crowd of people until further notice,” NSC said in a statement.

This year’s edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) scheduled to begin on March 14 in Kathmandu has been postponed over coronavirus scare.

Several football events are currently underway outside Kathmandu Valley while some major events are soon to come.
