ICC WC League 2: Nepal receives 198-run target from Oman

KATHMANDU: Oman has set a 198-run target for Nepal at the opening match under the triangular series of the ICC World Cup League 2 underway at TU Cricket Ground in Kritipur on Wednesday.

Sent in to bat first after losing the toss, Oman’s Mohammad Nadeem made highest 69 runs including five fours and two sixes off 96 balls and remained not-out. Similarly Sandeep Goud scored 33 runs including three fours and one six off 72 balls while Naseem Khushi made 28 off 18 balls.

Nepal’s Karan KC took highest four wickets conceding 47 runs in nine overs, Sushan Bhari grabbed three wickets giving away 14 runs in 10 overs while DS Airee claimed one wicket of Oman.

Nepal is playing the first series at its home ground after it got recognition of One Day Series.

The tournament, which will continue till 12 February, will have six matches and Nepal, Oman and USA will play the triangular series.

Each team will play two games. Nepal will play its second match with the US on February 8 and the third match with Oman on February 9.

Nepal, Scotland, UAE, Namibia, Oman, PNG and the USA are in the League Two of the ICC Cricket. All teams except Nepal have already played their first match.

So far, the USA is in the top of the score board with 12 points with six wins out of eight matches played.
