Participation of Dalit in media will be prioritized: Minister Gurung



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has said that priority would be given to issues related to Dalit community and their physical presence in government media.

Receiving a 12-point memorandum submitted by the National Dalit Journalists Association Nepal on Wednesday, Minister Gurung shared that the ministry has been doing homework to transform media sector as per constitution’s sentiments and aspiration.

He further said that the issues related to participation of Dalit in media and government grants have been put on special priority.

Similarly, Association Chair Binod Pahadi stressed that there should be participation of Dalit in policy-level and editorial group of government media.

The Association also demanded to bring a policy where the state should provide special facility for registration, renewal of media run by Dalit community as well as to waive tax of such media.
