Woman gives birth to quintuplets in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: A woman has given birth to quintuplets at the Thapathali-based Maternity Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday.

She gave birth to five babies through surgery at the hospital on Monday, said hospital’s Director Sangita Kaushal Mishra. One out of five babies was born dead.

The health condition of the remaining four is normal, the hospital said.

The mother and babies, all girls, have not been given oxygen, said Dr. Mishra. Of these babies, the first weighs 1.8 kg, the second weighs 800 grams, the third weighs 1.9 kg and the fourth weighs 1.6 kg.
