78 NA personnel leave for South Sudan



KATHMANDU: Nepal Army has deployed a team of 78 Nepali pecekeepers to join the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

The NA team left for the capital city Juba on Sunday night to replace the old team as their term has already expired, said Directorate of Public Relations and Information of Nepal Army.

The old NA team is returning home from South Sudan on Monday.

They have already served for a year in the UNMISS that was established on 8 July 2011 in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.

South Sudan became independent on 9 July 2011.
