NC disgruntled faction holding meeting against Deuba’s nomination

KATHMANDU: The disgruntled faction in the main opposition Nepali Congress has called a meeting after President Sher Bahadur Deuba unilaterally nominated his copper-bottomed cadres in various departments of the party.

Senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel and central members including  Arjun Nar Singh KC, Guru Ghimire have called a zoom meeting at 2 pm today.

President Deuba has been nominating cadres in various central departments and the other sister organizations of late, which, according to the disgruntled faction, is against the party statute.

The nominations have to be made in the central departments and other central departments within six months of the general convention as per the party statute.

Paudel faction has been accusing Deuba of nominating more than 1,000 carders and leaders to turn the table in his favor in the 14th general convention slated for February 26, 2021.

“President Deuba has been forming departments despite our requests not to do  so,” said Central Member Arjun Nar Singh KC, adding, “The departments formed without our consultation should be scrapped.”

He further said the today’s meeting has been called to discuss how to move ahead in the circumstances when the President does not withdraw his decision.

“Some party leaders have suggested hunger strikes and mass disobedience againt the working style of the President. We will reach a conclusion following today’s meeting,” said KC.

Earlier, Paudel had submitted a memorandum to the Presidenet asking the latter to withdraw  decisions but Deuba did not budge an inch from his stance.
