KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has underscored the need to improve the quality education of community schools.

Speaking at a sanitary distribution program organized at Gyanodaya Secondary School today, Mayor Shakya said the community schools should create environment to attract students and parents by improving quality education.

“Community schools should attract students and parents in the way the private schools have been doing by ensuring quality education,” said Shakya.

Shakya went on to say that if the community schools ensure the quality education, the number of students will automatically go up.

“Free education in community schools does not, however, mean that they should provide low quality education,” said Shakya.

The shutdown of private schools can never be the solution to existing problem being faced by the community schools but the improvement in the quality education that they have been providing, maintained Shakya.
