Two dead bodies killed in Melamchi landslide sent to Birgunj



KATHMANDU:  Two dead bodies of construction workers killed in the Melamchi landslide have been sent to Birgunj in the consultation with their family members.

The bodies were sent in a Bolero jeep this morning, according to Police Inspector Phal Bahadur Tamang of Area Police Office, Melamchi.

Sindhupalchowk’s  Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said the bodies have been sent in coordination with the family members of the deceased.

As many as eight workers had been killed in a landslide triggered by incessant rains in Melamchi municipality-11 in Sindupalchowk ditrict on August 3.

Pradip Chaurasiya of Birgunj, Bikram Thing, Man Bahadur Rumba, Rajendra Chaurasiya, Sonam Lama, Shiva Balak, Siman Ghalan and Indian national Rajendra Chudhary were killed after the landslide buried their makeshift hut where they were sleeping.

They had been deployed for the construction of a covered hall at Pipalbot.
