KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has said that spraying disinfectants on the human body is harmful to health.
Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Bikash Devkota, said that the disinfectants should not be sprayed directly on the human body and it would not kill the coronavirus.
“Disinfectant solutions are being sprayed on people,” he said, “Disinfectants do not kill the virus once the coronavirus has entered the body. Let’s not use it haphazardly.”
He said that virus grows in the cells of the human body, adding that if disinfectants are applied or sprayed on the body, it can cause damage to the eyes, nose and mouth and cause respiratory problems.
“The main way to prevent coronavirus infection is to wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds, follow the lockdown, maintain social distance and follow the reference materials issued by the Ministry of Health. Do not add extra risk by spraying disinfectants on the body. This can be even more deadly, “he said.
