District Attorney Office registers ‘abduction’ complaint by lawmaker Yadav

KATHMANDU: Samajwadi Party lawmaker Dr. Surendra Yadav has filed a petition at the District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, alleging that he was abducted.

Yadav filed the petition against the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmakers Mahesh Basnet, Kishan Kumar Shrestha and former IGP Sarbendra Khanal on Monday.

Hari Prasad Regmi, head of the government prosecutor’s office, confirmed that the petition has been registered.

“A complaint of abduction has been registered,” he said, “We are preparing to complete the necessary legal process and send it to the police office for investigation.”

Earlier, the office had declined to register the complaint.

It should be noted that former IGP Khanal, leaders Basnet and Shrestha had brought Dr. Yadav from Janakpur to Kathmandu in what the party has dubbed as ‘abduction’.

In Kathmandu, Dr. Yadav was kept at the Naxal-based Kathmandu Marriott Hotel.
