KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is being taken to operation theater after all the report results showed normal.

Even though Oli was scheduled to undergo the renal transplant at 9 am, the operation was delayed due to delay in the reports results.

“We are preparing to take Prime Minister Oli to Operation Theater for surgery after all the medical reports came normal,” said Dr Prem Khadka, executive director at the hospital.

Earlier, medical tests including blood pressure, condition of heart and body temperature had been conducted.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwar Pokharel, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal, Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi among others visited the hospital.

A team of 15 to 20 doctors led by Dr Prem Raj Gyawali, a consultant urologist and kidney transplant surgeon at the hospital, will perform a kidney transplant on Oli. It will take around six hours to perform the renal transplant according to the doctors.

Two other doctors, including Dr Ananta Kumar, a senior transplant surgeon at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, who performed a transplant on Oli in 2007, are in the team.
