KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) and Nepal Telecom (NT) have signed an agreement to expand optical fiber along the Mid-Hill Highway in the Karnali and Sudurpaschim States.
The optical fiber will be laid in 20 districts of these two States, stretching from Musikot of Rukum district to Jhulaghat of Baitadi. The NTA would fund the optical fiber projects amounting to over Rs 3 billion in these States under the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund as envisioned by the Digital Nepal framework.
NTA’s Chairperson Purusottam Khanal and NTA Managing Director Dilliram Adhikari signed the agreement to this end, according to which, the tender would be called by the NT for the same within three months.
The physical infrastructures for the same would be constructed within two years.
