IPL2020: Hyderabad beats Mumbai to enter playoffs



KATHMANDU: Sunrisers Hyderabad has entered the play-offs by defeating Mumbai Indians in an Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Held in Sharjah International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday night, Hyderabad secured its spot in the play-offs by clinching a 10- wicket win against Mumbai.

Hyderabad reached the 150-run target set by Mumbai in 17.1 overs without losing any wickets.

Hyderabad’s captain DA Warner top-scored with 85 runs studded with 10 fours and one six off 58 balls and remained not out. WP Saha made 45 runs including seven fours and one six off 45 balls.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Mumbai notched up 149 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing eight wickets.

Mumbai’s KA Pollard, SA Yadav and Ishan Kishan scored 41, 36 and 33 runs respectively.

To restrict Mumbai to paltry 149 runs, Hyderabad’s Sandeep Sharma took three wickets while JO Holder and S Nadeem grabbed two wickets each of Mumbai.

With this win, Hyderabad has entered the play-offs and is in the third position with 14 points from 14 games.

Kolkata has also been out from the league itself with Hyderabad’s win. Even though both the teams have equal 14 points, Kolkata lagged behind in run rate.
