NCP Chair Dahal reaches Bhainsepati to coax Gautam

KATHMANDU:  Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reached Bhainsepati to coax Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam.

Dahal has reached Bhainsepati at a time when there have been speculations that Bamdev Gautam is becoming closer to Oli camp. Earlier, a week ago, Gautam had issued a six point proposal to iron out intra-party feud of the party.

During the period, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairman of the party, had met Gautam at his residence in Bhainsepati. Oli’s Bhaisnepati visit had triggered waves at Khumaltar.

Dahal’s visit to Bhainsepati immediately after Oli has been viewed significantly.

Gautam, in his six point agenda, proposed Oli to remain chairman until the general convention of the party and take charge as the prime minister until the term of the House of Representatives.

Similarly, Pushpa Kamal Dahal will take charge as the executive chairman of the party until the coming general convention while the general convention will be held on consensus basis, according to the proposal.

The other points include allowing the prime minister to carry out day to day affairs without interventions, except those issues of national and international importance.

The government has to consult the Party’s Secretariat on such issues prior to taking a final call.

Likewise, the Secretariat advice is mandatory when it comes to cabinet reshuffling, political and constitutional appointments and presenting budget and policy and programs of the nation.

Gautam’s six point agenda, as a matter of fact, was in favor of Oli. So Oli went to Bhainsepati to ensure the implementation of the proposal.  At a time when the speculations are being made that Gautam is favoring Oli, Dahal-Nepal camp is worried of being in minority.

Oli and Dahal are holding a meeting at 5 pm today.
