KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has forbidden the participation of children and people above 60 years in the funeral procession of those losing their lives due to coronavirus.
Earlier people above 60 and people with chronic illness were forbidden in such ceremony.
Introducing the directives for the management of the hearse of the person who lost life in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry has forbidden children from joining the funeral procession of the COVID-19 victim.
“In case a COVID-19 patient dies at home, the family members and others helping the dead body management should ensure caution against the probability of transmission,” the procedure directives say, “The children and the person above 60 years of age should not be allowed to join the funeral procession and the last rituals.”
Although the government has forbidden children from participating in the funeral, it has not made it clear whether it includes those in mid or late teens as well.
