Cine Actress Rekha Thapa under fire for siding with Sushma Malla

KATHMANDU: Nepali cine actress Rekha Thapa has been dragged into controversy for allegedly siding with Sushma Malla in the Rukum Incident.

Her fans criticized her after she posted a comment on her Facebook page, urging one and all not to assassinate the character of Malla.

Her post has come at a time when people in general have demanded a stringent action against Mall for her involvement in the ‘murder’ of six people in the Rukum West Incident.

“The attempts to assassinate character of Sushma Malla involved in the Rukum West incident constitute gender discrimination,” reads her post.

Even though a few of her followers have supported her, many of them have criticized her for this comment.

Among 3,500 comments posted on her Facebook page, most of them are against her views with some followers suggesting not to post such statuses under a sudden impulse.

Reacting to her status, RL Tamrakar writes, “You are only fit for theaters and films. Don’t post such controversial statuses impersonating yourself as a women’s rights activist.”

Tamrakar further tells her not to pass comments without understanding the reality.

Likewise, BK Sirpali writes, “You are also the woman and so are the mothers of the six youths who died in the Rukum incident. They have lost their dear ones.”

Another follower has lashed out at Rekha by describing her controversial status as a gimmick to become viral on the social networking sites.
