Tehrathum reports first two COVID-19 cases

TEHRATHUM: Two people were confirmed to have been infected with the COVID-19 for the first time in Athrai rural municipality of the district.

According to Chief District Officer Bishwa Raj Neupane, a 20-year-old girl and 29-year-old police constable of Armed Police Force Base Camp in Sakranti Bazaar have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The cases were confirmed after their swbas results came out positive during screening at Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar.

Swabs of 19 people including the affected had been sent to Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar on May 29.

The reports of other people are yet to be awaited.

The infected girl had come to Tehrathum from India via Kapilvastu on May 26 while the police constable has been staying in the camp since the last two months, according to Neupane.

Both the infected people have been kept in isolation of Atharai rural municipality. Preparations are underway to send them to Dharan-based Corona Hospital for treatment, said the administration.
