South and North Korea exchange gunfire

SEOUL: South Korea and North Korea have exchanged gunfire around the South Korea’s guard post on Sunday, international media reports have said.

This has raised tension a day after North’s leader Kim Jong Un showed himself visiting a factory ending an almost three-week absence from public life.

Reports said several gunshots were fired from North Korea on Sunday morning towards a guard post in South Korea.

South Korea also responded by firing two shots towards North Korea. However, no injuries were reported.

The gunshots exchange is the latest confrontation between South and North Korea that technically remain at war.
