Siddha Baba sent to jail



BIRATNAGAR: Biratnagar High Court on Tuesday handed a jail-term to rape-accused Krishna Bahadur Giri, popularly known as Siddha Baba.

A joint bench of Chief Judge Til Prasad Shrestha and Judge Prem Raj Karki had on January 23 issued the order hearing a review petition filed by District Attorney Office.

Siddha Baba had surrendered before the court on Tuesday at around 12 pm.

Giri had escaped to India through Jogbani checkpoint before the court made the order.

The Sunsari District Court on December 30 had ordered his release on a bail bond of Rs 300,000 following the conclusion of bail-hearing.

Then, the District Attorney Office had filed a review petition at Biratnagar High Court. Giri sneaked into India while a rape case was sub-judice against him at Sunsari District Court.
