Winners of the 2020 British Academy Film Awards

LONDON: “Parasite” took home two trophies at this year’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Film Awards!

The annual EE British Academy Film Awards took place in London at the Royal Albert Hall. “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho attended the ceremony together with star Song Kang Ho, and as was the case with almost all of this season’s award ceremonies, he did not go home empty-handed.

“Parasite” won the BAFTA for Best Film Not in the English Language, as well as the award for Best Original Screenplay (director Bong Joon Ho and Han Jin Won share screenwriting credits for the film).

Accepting his BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay, Bong Joon Ho remarked, “Because ‘Parasite’ was written in a foreign language, I didn’t expect to receive this award. Thank you to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for showing ‘Parasite’ so much love.”

He humbly went on, “I spent a lot of time writing in cafes. I never imagined that I would be standing here at the Royal Albert Hall.”
