Thamel’s gangster ‘Rate Don’ lands in police net



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a person on the charge of being involved in hooliganism in Thamel, a major touristic place in Kathmandu.

Police confirmed his arrest by a squad from the Metropolitan Crime Control Division last night.

According to Division Chief Senior Superintendent of Police, Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, Shrestha was one of the members in the gang led by Dinesh Adhikari ‘Chari’ who was earlier killed in the police encounter.

This time, he was arrested in connection with the alleged involvement in the crime that took place on April 1.  He and his aide Ajay Gurung aka Rembo allegedly attacked Bishnu Kathayat, a local of Kathmandu metropolis-26 with an iron rod from the back.

The attack took place in front of the local IOD Club. Gurung has been already landed in the police net.

Acting on a complaint registered by Kathayat, Rate was taken under control and handed to the Metropolitan Police Circle Lainchaur for further investigation.
