Monetary policy flexible till end of COVID-19 impact: Governor Adhikari



KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has said, “As long as the Covid-19 exits, the monetary policy remains flexible.”

At a program organized after the quarterly review of the existing monetary policy here Thursday, Governor Adhikari said flexibility in the policy would be maintained in view of the government’s goal of economic growth and the entire economy.

He argued that the investors were getting high morale while liquidity at banking and financial institutions was good at present.

The decrease in interest rate has given relief to the investors, Adhikari said, adding that the central bank had however made arrangements to look after the adversity to be created with the decrease of interest rate to the depositors.

The Governor shared that NRB was effortful to create employment and increase domestic production by expanding monetary policy. The first quarterly review was made in a way to help achieve the target of economic growth in the current fiscal year.

The NRB is for preventing risk and stabilizing the banking and financial institutes, according to Governor Adhikari.
