KATHMANDU: In another episode of a tussle between provincial and federal governments, the Province 2 government has knocked on the door of the court saying that the federal government has interfered in its jurisdiction.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure of Province Jitendra Sonal filed the case at the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday against the central government, said Chief Attorney of Province 2 Dipendra Jha.
The writ petition has alleged that the tender called by the ‘Prosperous Tarai-Madhes Irrigation Special Program’, on November 9 has interfered in the jurisdiction of the provincial government.
The writ has also demanded to annul the circular of the Underground Water Resources Development Committee demanding to return the building, vehicle, and other physical equipment currently being used by the provincial government to the federal government.
Similarly, Minister Sonal has demanded an order to declare the bids invalid saying that the prosperous ‘Prosperous Tarai-Madhes Irrigation Special Program’ has been invited bids to run the projects and programs being run by the provincial government.
The provincial government has stated that the federal government has interfered in the jurisdiction of the provincial government as per schedule 6 of the constitution.
Earlier the apex court had stayed the federal government’s decision to merge Sagarnath Forest Development Project with Timber Corporation of Nepal in the writ by the provincial government,
