Nepal Police alerts about growing cases of cyber crime



KATHMANDU: The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has urged people to be aware about the rising cases of cyber crime in the country.

The misuse of and harassment through social media as well as selling illegal items, stalking and cyber-bullying among others and disseminating those contents in social media are an offence that are defined as cyber crime.

These offences are in contravention to the Electronic Transaction Act-2063 BS. The Cyber Bureau has been bringing to book the offenders after the complaints and information registered to it and many such cases were under investigation.

The Bureau has also appealed the social media followers and users of social networking sites not to further disseminate the obscene and vulgar contents so that the identity of the real victim could be protected and the mental agony will not be further inflicted on the victims.

If anyone is aware about such activities, the Bureau has appealed one and all to immediately bring it to the notice of the Bureau.
