Patan High Court orders police not to arrest VTEN

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has ordered police not to arrest rapper Samir Ghising alias VTEN saying that there was no reason to arrest him for the song or music.

A bench of Chief Judge Nahakul Subedi issued an interim order in the name of the Police Headquarters and Cyber Bureau not to arrest VTEN, said Deputy Registrar of the Court Shambhu Regmi.

VTEN had moved the court seeking an order against a possible arrest.

The rapper is being investigated by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police for promoting obscenity and defaming the police through a song on YouTube.

Nepal Police Headquarters had directed Cyber Bureau to take action against him.

In a statement on Saturday, the rapper had apologized and had stated that he has removed the song as it offended ‘some bodies’.
