Five COVID-19 infected succumb to virus in past 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Five people infected with coronavirus have died in separate places in the country in the past 24 hours.

A 66-year-old man infected with coronavirus has died at Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital in Baglung district on Tuesday morning.

Originally from Baglung municipality-3, the sexagenarian passed away in the course of treatment at 10:20 am today, said Chief Medical Superintendent of the hospital Shailendra BK.

He had been admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital with respiratory complications. He was being treated on ventilator at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after his condition deteriorated.

Two people have died in the course of treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar this morning.

The deceased have been identified as a 49-year-old man from Biratnagar and a 63-year-old man from Dharan Sub Metropolitan City.

The deceased from Dharan was diagnosed with the virus on October 13 and was admitted to the hospital on October 28.

Similarly, the patient from Biratnagar had tested positive for COVID-19 on October 30 and had been hospitalized on the same day.

One more person has died from COVID-19 infection in Pokhara Metropolitan City.

A 59-year-old woman of Pokhara Metropolitan City-5 breathed her last in the course of treatment at Western Regional Hospital at 11 pm on Monday.

The patient had tested positive for COVID-19 on October 30, according to Dr Arjun Acharya, the director of the hospital.

She had been also been suffering from other chronic ailments. With this the number of COVID-19 deaths at his hospital has reached 26.

Likewise, a COVID-19 infected man has died in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

A 30-year-old man of Mahadewa-6, Saptari, currently staying at Dharan Sub Metropolitan City-18, died at 5:40 pm on Monday.

The patient’s swab test result had come positive yesterday itself, according to Dr Ashish Shrestha, the deputy spokesperson of the hospital.

He was admitted to the emergency ward of the Hospital after being diagnosed with the virus.

He passed away while plans were being made to admit him to the COVID-19 Hospital for further treatment, said Dr Shrestha. The deceased had no any chronic ailments.
