Two months into Dhorpatan landslide, whereabouts of 15 missing still unknown



BAGLUNG: Two months into the flooding and landslide at Paschim Dhorpatan municipality-9 in the district that claimed 22 lives, the whereabouts of 15 others missing in the disaster are still unknown.

The people missing along with their identity has been reported to the Ministry of Home and other concerned authorities across the country.

However, the search for the missing people along the banks of Bhuji River and landslide hit areas has been stopped. “We have not halted the search. But only its form has been changed.

We have circulated the information about their missing across the country. The whereabouts of them are unknown,” said Superintendent of Police Lokendra Shrestha.

The district administration office has at the direction of the Home Ministry provided compensation to the families of the missing people on a par with the families of the deceased in the disaster.

The missing people have been identified as local residents Jit Bahadur Gharti Magar, 31, nine-year-old Shesan BK, four-year-old Rabi BK, Man Kumari BK, 22, Tek Maya BK, 21, 10-month-old Tirsana BK, Manisha BK, 15, Kaushila Pul, 55, Bilasa Pun, 26, Tulmati Gharti, 55, five-year-old Biraj BK, 10-month-old Umisa BK, three-year-old Karali Pun, eight-year-old Mohan BK and Samundra BK, 12.

Of 38 people affected by the disasters, bodies of 22 were retrieved, 15 were missing and one was rescued alive. One hundred thirty houses at Dhorpatan municipality-6, 7, 8 and 9 were damaged in the disasters, according to data with the municipality. RSS
