Gang involved in stealing mobile busted



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested five persons involved in stealing mobile phones.

A team of the Metropolitan Police Circle Janasewa New Road on Friday arrested five persons who stole mobile phones worth Rs 750 thousand from the Tamrakar Complex located at Pako, New Road, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22.

The arrested persons were paraded before the media today.

Those arrested are 32-year-old Prakash Tamang and  21-year-old Janak Tamang of Panauti and 29-year-old  Soma Rani Tamang of Temal, Kavrepalanchok district; 40-year-old Chhiring Sherpa of Gauri Shankar, Dolakha and 22-year-old Amrit Rai of Panchakanya, Nuwakot.

Police arrested them on the basis of the CCTV footage.

According to Chief of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Deputy Superintendent Sunil Jung Shah, the arrested persons who are members of the ring that stole mobile phones in collaboration and sold them at a cheaper price.

“Investigation shows that Janak Tamang and Prakash Tamang stole the gadgets and sold them at a cheaper rate to  Soma Rani Tamang, Chhiring Sherpa and Amrit Rai,” DSP Shah said. Police are conducting further investigation into them.
