Hotspot Baluwatar: 76 including advisors at Nepal’s PM’s residence test COVID-19 positive

KATHMANDU: A total of 76 people working at the official residence of Prime Minister KP Oli in Baluwatar have been found to be infected with the coronavirus.

Sources at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division said that infection has been confirmed in 76 people, including advisors to the prime minister, security personnel, secretariat staff and drivers.

Earlier today, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal, Foreign Advisor Rajan Bhattarai, Press Advisor Surya Thapa, photographer Rajan Kafle and Chief Personal Secretary Indra Bhandari were confirmed to have the coronavirus.

As many as 65 security personnel deployed at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar have been infected with the coronavirus.

According to sources, 28 security personnel from Nepal Army, 19 from Nepal Police and 18 from the Armed Police Force have been tested positive.

According to sources in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli’s swab sample was collected on Thursday. The sources added that his report was negative.
