Kathmandu Valley records 60 pc of Nepal’s total COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU: The latest coronavirus pandemic transmission trends reveal the fact that Kathmandu Valley is turning into a coronavirus hotspot.

With the inflow of the people locked to their hometowns due to lockdown for five months and prohibitory orders for two months, the infection cases are hiking at an alarming rate in the capital valley.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Population, the infection rate is nearly 14 percent throughout the country and in past few days around 60 percent, fresh cases are noticed in the Kathmandu Valley.

The public health experts fear that provided some more effective measures are not enforced, not only the coronavirus infection cases but also the coronavirus-related deaths are likely to increase.

“Provided new and effective measures are not explored and adopted soon, the pandemic related death cases also will go high as well,” the public health expert, Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun said.

It’s noteworthy that out of 520 death cases of the country 137 are from the capital valley.

Despite the formal warnings from various media outlets, the mass awareness in the Valley is still not much good. In most of the places, the public has not coordinated with the government’s appeal to abide by safety standards.
