Eight workers feared killed as landslide buries shed in Melamchi



KATHMANDU: Eight workers have gone missing after a landslide buried their hut near Melamchi Bazaar in Sindhupalchowk district.

According to Melamchi Municipality Mayor Dambar Bahadur Aryal, eight workers deployed in the construction of a covered hall at Pipalbot have gone missing due to a landslide.

The landslide triggered by incessant rains buried a makeshift shanty where they were sleeping on Sunday night.  One of them has been rescued alive.

The identities of those missing are yet to be ascertained.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army with the help of locals are carrying out rescue work.
