Nepal’s COVID-19 tally soars to 2,300 with 201 new cases



KATHMANDU: A total of 201 new cases of coronavirus have been reported as of Wednesday afternoon taking the tally to 2,300, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota said that among the newly-infected are 179 males and 22 females.

In a test conducted at Koshi Hospital, one person from Dhankuta, two from Morang, one from Jhapa, one from Atharai of Tehrathum and one from Sunsari tested positive.

Similarly, one person from Saptari, two people from Taplejung, one person from Jhapa, one person from Panchthar and 7 people from Sunsari have also tested positive in the test conducted in Dharan.

In the laboratory test at Narayani Hospital, the reports of seven people from Parsa have come positive.

Similarly, coronavirus infection has been found in one person from Dailekh and two people from Salyan in tests at Surkhet laboratory.

A test conducted at Seti Hospital has found coronavirus infection in three people in Kailali and two in Doti.

Tests conducted at the Provincial Laboratory in Rupandehi showed coronavirus infection in 67 people in Kapilvastu, two in Palpa and 26 in Rupandehi.

Similarly, nine people from Mahottari have tested positive in a laboratory test in Janakpur.

Similarly, the infection has been found in six people of Dailekh and seven people of Kalikot in a test at the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences.

Five people from Dang, two from Pyuthan and one from Salyan have also tested positive at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences.

Similarly, tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory found coronavirus infection in one person in Dhanusha, two in Kapilvastu, three in Kathmandu, eight in Nawalparasi, 11 in Rautahat, one in Rupandehi, 15 in Sarlahi and one in Sindhupalchowk.

A total of 12 more persons have discharged after recovery taking the tally to 278 according to Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota.

According to the Ministry of Health, 80,267 tests have been carried out using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method so far. Out of this, 4,924 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours.

A total of 155,868 people have been quarantined across the country currently.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 3,800 people in Province1, 22,702 in Province 2, 3,227 in Bagmati Province, 4,470 in Gandaki Province, 41,683 in Province 5, 30,166 in Karnali Province and 49,820 in Sudurpaschim Province have been quarantined.

Nepal had reported 288 new cases on Tuesday.
