Govt to extend deadline for tax clearance



KATHMANDU: The government is ready to extend the tax payment deadline set for Sunday following widespread criticism from the business community.

In a discussion with the representatives of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Finance Secretary Shishir Kumar Dhungana said that the government was ready to extend the tax payment deadline.

On behalf of the federation, senior vice president Shekhar Golchha, former president Pashupati Murarka, another vice president Kishor Pradhan and president of industry committee Anjan Shrestha went to discuss with Secretary Dhungana.

Finance Secretary Dhungana informed that discussions have been held on how to facilitate and said that necessary decisions will be taken.

Probably this evening, the government will decide to extend the time to pay taxes.
