KATHMANDU: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished a successful surgery and speedy recovery of his counterpart Prime Minister KP Oli, who is undergoing his second kidney transplantation procedure on Wednesday.

Taking to his personnel Twitter account, PM Modi has extended his wishes to PM Oli.

Oli, 67, underwent a kidney transplant in India in 2007 after both his kidneys failed to function.

Prime Minister Oli will be admitted to TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj today itself as he is undergoing kidney re-transplantation on Wednesday.

The prime minister has been undergoing regular dialysis after the kidney that was transplanted some 12 years ago stopped functioning.

Oli had undergone coronary angiography of his heart at the Maharajgunj-based Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center on February 18.

Doctors opted for re-transplantation after his health report turned out to be normal.
