Update: Death toll in Sunsari road mishap reaches five



SUNSARI: The death toll in a road accident in Sunsari district has reached five.

Fibe persons have died in a bus-microbus collision along the East-West Highway on Sunday.

Two persons were critically injured in the accident that occurred at Ramdhuni Municipality-2 in Sunsari, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Hemraj Koirala, 75, and his wife Dolmaya, 65, of Bhadrapur-8, in Jhapa; Deepak Khadka, 28, of Baireni-2 in Dhading; Garima Gautam, 17, of Bhaktapur and Tanka Prasad Kafle, 75, of Bhadrapur.

Khadka was the micro-bus driver.

Similarly, Sabitra Rai and Hom Bahadur Darji of Jhapa district have sustained deep injuries.

Garima and Tanka Prasad died while receiving treatment BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences while three others died on the spot, according to the police.

The accident took place after a micro-bus — Ba 5 Kha 3157 — heading towards Kathmandu from Chandragadhi and a bus — Na 6 Kha 795 — en route to Kakadbhitta from Pokhara collided with each other.
