Nepali evacuees from China to be quarantined for coronavirus

KATHMANDU: At the time when the preparations are underway to evacuate Nepalis from China reeling under the scare of coronavirus, officials are searching for an appropriate place to quarantine the evacuees.

Some 177 Nepalis who will be airlifted from China will be kept at an isolated place to make sure if they have been infected with the deadly virus or not and stop the infection from spreading to others.

They will be kept at the quarantine under doctors’ supervision for 15 days.

“We are searching for an appropriate place to keep the evacuees,” Spokesperson at the Ministry for Health and Population Mahendra Shrestha said.

The Nepali Embassy in Beijing on Saturday said that a chartered flight will be arranged for the evacuation of Nepali nationals currently residing in the Hubei Province reeling under the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The particulars of the chartered flight will be arranged on the basis of submissions made by Nepali nationals willing to go back to Nepal, the Embassy stated.
