Dilasaini in Baitadi goes into 11-day lockdown

BAITADI: Lockdown has been imposed in Dilasaini Rural Municipality of Baitadi district for 11 days, citing surge in risk of coronavirus infection.

Chief administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, Pankha Bahadur Shah said the rural municipality went into a lockdown after coronavirus infection was confirmed in additional six persons in the area on Tuesday.

“The risk of coronavirus has increased with 16 active cases in the area and the lockdown is imposed as per the decision of the Disaster Management Committee,” he said.

Operation of long and short route public vehicles has been banned and all services except the emergency ones provided by the Rural Municipality and the seven wards under it will not be available during the period of the lockdown till December 11.

Likewise, schools throughout the Rural Municipality will remain closed and programs requiring big gatherings of people have been banned. However, grocery shops and shops selling daily essentials would be opened from 8am to 9am while the banks and financial institutions within the Rural Municipality would be open only on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Health service providing institutions, including the ambulance services would be operational. It is suspected that the infection has spread at the community level in Dilasaini rural municipality in recent days.
