Teku Hospital withdraws decision to seek deposits for admission

KATHMANDU: The Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital, popularly known as Teku Hospital, has stated that no deposits will be taken for admission of COVID-19 patients following the directive of the Ministry of Health.

The hospital said in a statement on Monday that it would implement the provision of making deposits during admission.

The hospital has written to all the wards and counters since Monday instructing them not to take deposits, said Dr. Sagar Kumar Rajbhandari, director of the hospital.

The hospital has also clarified that the patients have not been deprived of treatment due to lack of deposits so far.

The hospital has also stated that the patients who can pay the fee will be charged, and the patients who cannot pay will be treated free of cost as per the Ministry of Health’s instructions.

The poor, senior citizens above 70 years of age, severely disabled, single women, frontline health workers, security personnel, and sanitation workers will be treated free of cost.
