Hamro Patro app launches ‘News Personalization’ feature



KATHMANDU: The ‘News Personalization’ feature of the Hamro Patro app is now available in beta version. The company unveiled its beta version for Android users on Thursday.

The company has stated that a beta version of this feature will be available for iPhone users in the next few days.

Hamro Patro Inc. says that this feature has been brought so that the users can personalize the news according to their personal interests and needs.

Users can select news sources and news categories using the ‘For You’ feature in the app’s news section.

This feature, which is currently being tested among a limited number of users, will be available to everyone as a public version by next week, said Shankar Uprety, CEO of Hamro Patro Inc.

How to use the beta version of the app?

Click here to start using the Android beta version of the app and then, tap on the ‘Become a Tester’ button.

After doing so, the app on your mobile will be automatically converted to the beta version. If you don’t have the app installed on your smartphone, click here to download.

Now, open the app and enter the news section. There you will now see the ‘For You’ option. Then, click on it.

If you are not logged in, click on the login button provided there. As soon as you log in, you will see a ‘plus’ sign, click on it.

Now, you will see news categories like country, literature, health, technology, finance, world, entertainment, sports.

Select the categories you like and click on ‘Next’ in the top right corner. Now, there you will see various news portals.

Choose which news portal news you want to read and click on ‘Done’ in the upper right corner. After doing so, if you go to the ‘for you’ option already in the app, only the news you have chosen will appear there.

If you want to switch back to the public version of the app from the beta testing version of the app, you can uninstall it and install the public version of the app.
