Province 1 records 197 new cases, 166 recover

BIRATNAGAR: Province 1 recorded 197 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours in a record single-day spike.

A total of 146 cases are in Morang, 23 in Sunsari, 21 in Jhapa, two in Tehrathum and five outside Province, according to the Ministry of Social Development.

According to the ministry, 123 people have been infected in Biratnagar, the Capital of Province-1. Among those infected are 47 women and 76 men.

Similarly, four women and five men in Sundaraharaicha of Morang, two women and seven men in Pathari Shanishchhare, one woman and two men in Rangeli, one man each in Katahari and Budhiganga have reported positive.

In Sunsari, two women and seven men in Itahari, two women and three men in Dharan, three men in Duhabi, two men in Harinagar, one man each in Gadhi and Ramdhuni and two men at undisclosed local levels have tested positive.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, four women and nine men were infected in Mechinagar of Jhapa, two women and two men in Bhadrapur, two men in Kankai, one man each in Damak and Birtamode, one woman in Chhathar of Tehrathum and one man of undisclosed local level and five men outside the Province.

The number of coronavirus infections in Province 1 has reached 7,177.

A total of 166 people have recovered in Province 1 on Friday. A total of 155 have been discharged from home isolation, eight from Birat Medical College and three from Neuro Hospital.

So far, 3,438 people have been discharged.
