Trump, Melania test positive for coronavirus

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania have tested positive for coronavirus and are in quarantine.

President Trump, in a tweet, said he and Melania are beginning a “quarantine process” as they tested positive for COVID-19.

The president announced the news in a tweet.

It comes after one of Trump’s closest aides tested positive for coronavirus.

President’s physician said Trump was “well”, adding that the president would stay isolated in the White House for now.

Hope Hicks, the 31-year-old adviser to the president, was the closest aide to Mr Trump to test positive so far.

She travelled with him on Air Force One to a TV debate in Ohio earlier this week.

COVID-19 has already killed more than 207,000 Americans and devastated the country’s economy, The New York Times has said.
