KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Prime Minister KP Oli discussed the agenda for the party’s Secretariat meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Prachanda reached PM Oli’s official residence at Baluwatar Wednesday evening to discuss the agenda besides talking about party Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam’s nomination to the National Assembly.

The Secretariat meeting of the party is scheduled to discuss the report submitted by the six-member task force led by NCP General Secretary Bishnu Poudel formed to suggest ways out to narrow down the differences within the party.

Meanwhile, sources said that the two leaders also discussed whether or not to send Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada to the National Assembly or bring Gautam to the Upper House.

It is learned that Gautam has been pressurizing PM Oli to nominate him to the Upper House.

In today’s meeting with Dahal, PM Oli also expressed the dilemma whether or not take Gautam to the National Assembly as he believes that Dr Khatiwada is the right person to lead the Ministry of Finance at this crucial time.

It may be noted that the meeting of the party’s Secretariat on February 26 had decided to take Gautam to the NA.

While PM Oli wants to nominate Dr Khatiwada to the NA and continue him as finance minister, Gautam has insisted that he should be taken to the Upper House.

Sources said that Gautam has been demanding that he be taken to the NA and be appointed to the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, which PM Oli is “not very interested”.

Prime Minister Oli is learned to have asked leader Gautam to vacate the Dolpa constituency and contest for the House of Representatives.
