Dummy traffic police in 22 spots in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has stalled 22 dummy traffic police as a part of public awareness campaign about traffic rules.

As a part of street education program, the Division has stalled dummies with awareness slogans in different parts of the valley.

Along with the reminders of traffic rules, these dummies also hold the warning about the fine from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000 in case of traffic rule violation.

Elaborating the purpose of such campaign, SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal informed that  the drivers automatically adjust their speed once they see the traffic police stand nearby the turnings and roundabout.

“Such dummies remind the drivers that they are being watched and alert them against their instinct to violate the traffic rules,” SSP Dhakal said, “Besides, the traffic police holding playcards assure the public that the traffic is there at people’s service.”

In collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Metro traffic have deployed such dummies at Singhdurbar, Singhdobato, Maitighar, New Baneswor, Baluwatar, Academy Mode, Lainchaur, Bhotahity and Ranoddip chowk.

Similarly, there are the traffic dummies at Bhadrakali, Thapathali, Kalimati Chowk, Kalanki Chowk, Koteshwor Chowk, Jadibuti Chowk, Gaushala, Old Baneshwor Chowk, Lhotse Chowk, Krishna Pauroti, Padmodaya Mode, Nagdhunga and Jagati as well.

The Division has added 60 flexes with information about the safety measures against coronavirus pandemic in different turnings and chowks in the valley.
