Humla to organize football competition amid COVID-19 fear



SIMKOT: While the COVID-19 spread is feared to have entered another alarming stage of community transmission in various parts of the country, Raniban Youth Club of Humla is organizing a District Wide Seven A Side Football Competition for both the males and the females from August 3.

According to Aaita Ram Bohora, the President of Raniban Youth Club, the local administration first hesitant on granting permission citing the COVID-19 transmission risk agreed to let the club organize the event after getting assurance to abide by the social distancing and other safety rules issued by the authority.

He informed that there would be 27 teams including 3 female teams.

“There will be 27 teams including 3 female teams taking part in the event,” Bohora informed. He said that the winner will bag a cash prize of Rs 50,999 and the first runner-up team will get Rs 20,999.

He added that 50 volunteers will be mobilized to ensure that audience abide by social distancing directives and the security forces and health workers will also cooperate in minimizing the COVID-19 spread risk.
