49-day-old baby dies of COVID-19 in Nepal

Death toll reaches 31



KATHMANDU: A 49-day-old baby infected with coronavirus has died.

The bay hailing from Myagdi was undergoing treatment at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population stated that the infant breathed his last on Wednesday night.

With this, the death toll from coronavirus in Nepal has reached 31. The infant is the youngest COVID-19 victim in Nepal so far.

The baby was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago, said Coordinator of COVID Management Committee of the hospital Dr. Sant Kumar Das.

Dr. Das said that the baby was kept in an isolation ward and a surgery was performed on him on Monday following an issue with his throat.
